About the Coach

Mariela is originally from Cuba and came to the United States in 1962 when she was just 3 years old. Mariela is bilingual (English/Spanish). She graduated from Barry University, in Miami, with a Master of Science Degree in Human Resources Development and Administration. She worked for 27 years at Florida Power & Light Company in Miami, spending most of her career in Customer Service. Her work history ranged from basic customer service to complex human resources issues. She held a Customer Service Supervisory role for 13 years and proved to be a resourceful leader in defining and implementing different program direction, cost reductions and diverse improvement strategies. In these roles, she was able to cultivate dynamic alliances with staff, management and business partners in support of programs ranging from solutions management to government interface.

Before establishing her coaching practice, Mariela moved from the private sector to the public sector and continued her work as a Customer Service Manager with Miami Dade County where she gained more experience dealing with both bargaining and non-bargaining employees. She has extensive experience in employee relationship issues. Mariela also teaches at Miami Dade College where she provides insight on HR Development courses to her students.

On a personal note, Mariela is the mother of 23 year old twin sons. Her sons are now successful businessmen who graduated from the University of South Florida and are currently employed practicing Finance. Mariela currently lives in Miami with her sons and with her significant other and together, as hobbies they own and manage vacation homes in East Tennessee. Mariela cares for her immediate family and her elderly parents who also live in Miami and has a tremendous amount of experience dealing with simple, everyday issues. She is patient, sensitive, optimistic and completely open-minded. She is an excellent listener and belongs to a new thinking wave inspired by The Law of Attraction – where she believes everything is possible if you think it, feel it and act on it.
